Knitting from an old knitting pattern. Knitted these socks from another old pattern (illustration D ladies ankle socks) purchased from ebay.   Regretting choice of yarn, a bit to colourful, but they are only socks, they do fit and comfy to wear with walking boots.  A small project easy to carry around and carry on doing a few stitches.  In the car, on a ferry etc!

Finally put some buttons on a previous project.

Some photographs taken over the last few weeks.

A  friendly robin by our small pond.

A balloon in the afternoon sun.

A couple of photos in side a beautiful old Church.

Took this photograph the day before yesterday,  not many leaves are left on the trees now.  The squirrels are busy collecting for their stores. I think this one is eating though, sitting in an old oak tree.

Have started some oil painting. Am very good at starting paintings and not finishing them!  Am also carrying on with some knitting projects.

Knitting, finishing the short sleeved cardigan.
Started knitting both sides of the ribbing and sewing them in.  This part took me a long time!

Put markers in to make sure of getting both sides even.
Got there eventually.  Should have made a better job of sewing the ends in

Finished all but sewing the buttons on.  Will get some buttons next time I am in town and have time. Just left 2 stitch markers in for now.

It is very hot here at the moment. Luckily am managing to keep some rooms in the house quite cool. Sit outside and knit when there is some shade by the back door.  I suppose summer isn't the best time to knit but enjoy it so much.

It was far to hot to be out really, but spotted this heron while walking by the canal.

Current Projects, a short sleeved cardigan from the pattern shown below the pictures.

Watched TV while I was knitting for most of this.  Found, for some reason, I started knitting both of the front sides at once, doing a few rows on one piece then a few rows on the other side.

Used markers for the first 100 rows on the back as can be seen, seem to make it easier to knit all pieces with the matching amount of rows.

Used safety pins to pin in the sleeves.  Started doing back stitch, (used back stitch to successfully sew shoulder seams), but then undid what back stitch I had done on the sleeve seams and started sewing them up from the outside using mattress stitch.

Have started another jumper, a long sleeved one. Am using yarn I bought a long time ago.  With this practice, I hope I will eventually be able to start knitting for some family members.

A few photographs of beautiful roses in the garden.  With have had some lovely sunny  days in the last few week, there have been a couple of showery days.  Cloudy but warm at the moment. The sun is trying to break through.

Saturday 7 January 2017

Finished the jumper from an old pattern , possibly a 1940's have altered the back as I didn't want to do just loops for the buttonholes.  Pleased with it but have put on a little weight since I started it, so it is a slightly tighter fit!

This is the pattern for the above jumper, I bought it from ebay because I liked the rib pattern on it, I knew I didn't like the loops on the button band and knew if I want to knit the cardigan I can knit the buttonholes in the border.  Ebay are being rather mean (despite my feedback being 100% favourable most of the time, and many lovely comments from customers), to me at the moment so don't know why I am advertising them!

Have also finished the above jumper, which I am pleased with, it's easy to sit and knit this while watching television, films and documentaries being favourites.  Would knit again but in one colour as sewing up the stripes is time consuming, have shown in the second picture, hopefully have not made to bad a job of it.  I am no expert but would guess this is a seventies pattern?
